    Shop Builders! Get feedback from past customers. Do not select a builder from price alone. The lowest bidder is not always the way you want to go. Check the better business bureau. Do you home work up front not after you have been burned. Most important - Ask your builder for copies of receipts. You will probably be asked to pay a mark up on the items but at least you will know how much and if he is being fair with you.
